Acupuncture for Fertility & IVF Support works to help restore balance and health when trying to conceive. Many areas of your health may need to be addressed in order to bring your body to a balanced place. Research shows that Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine significantly improve the success rate of Western medical fertility treatments. Our treatment plans to support fertility include acupuncture, supplements, Chinese herbs, lifestyle and dietary recommendations.
Our main focus with females is the menstrual cycle. This may include looking at regulating periods, increasing blood flow to your uterus, thickening the lining of the endometrium, balancing hormone levels, improving ovulation or reducing anxiety and stress. We focus on each phase of the cycle from both a Western and traditional Chinese medicine perspective working to maximize function of the reproductive organs. We highly recommend treatments once a week for 3 menstrual cycles as there are 4 different phases in one menstrual cycle and a 90 day egg cycle. During the eggs journey to ovulation there is a window of time, over the 90 days, where we can work to influence the health of that egg.
Males fertility can be easier to treat because of the constant and quick reproduction of sperm. If you are having trouble conceiving it is essential to have a sperm analysis. There are now many options to order an at home semen analysis kit or you may obtain a lab test from your primary care provider. Sperm issues may include quality and/or quantity. The lifecycle of sperm is around 72 days from when it’s produced to when it’s ejaculated. Just like in females, there is a window of time over the roughly 72 days were we can work to influence the health and quantity of your sperm through weekly acupuncture, supplements/herbs, diet and lifestyle changes.
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine can be used to help prepare for, and enhance conception for In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), and other Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) protocols. It is generally recommended that a minimum of 8-10 treatments prior to an IVF cycles should occur to maximize egg quality and help optimize hormones.
